THIS BOOK!! IF ONLY, IF ONLY........

I've already told you how I came about this book. While reading the book, I came upon 3 yellowed sheets of paper, and one poem cut from a newspaper. One of the papers is from a program of sorts. It reads: Racine-Kenosha
RURAL NORMAL SCHOOL BULLETIN
PUBLISHED THE FIRST OF EACH MONTH EXCEPT JUNE-SEPT.
The Racine-Kenosha Rural Normal School for Teachers
Class matter, Jan. 1, 1927
Racine-Kenosha Rural Normal School
Union Grove, Wis.
1928 Summer Session
It goes on to tell them where they go for board and room and that book rental fees for this session will be 1.00
On the back of this page it gives the GOALS for Racine-Kenosha Counties for the school year 1928-1929
1- Well mannered, industrious children in our schools
2-Every child in a clean, orderly school room
3-Better oral and written expression on the part of our pupils
4-Better school room pictures (?)
5-More beautiful school grounds
6-A standardized, well selected list of references for use in teaching the various subjects
7-Definite professional growth annually on the part of every teacher
(if this were the case today, I may not have to send my child to a private school)
Politeness is to do and say
the kindest thing in the kindest way
Hearts, like doors, will open with ease
to very, very little keys;
And don't forget that two of these
Are "Thank you, sir, and If you please".
I'll leave you with this little poem from the program.
Tomorrow will be: Be Courteous, examples for the boy.

GOOD MANNERS & RIGHT CONDUCT

I've been on "vacation" for the past week visiting my 92 year old mother-in-law (that will be another blog) but while there we went to a new GoodWill that had opened. I love Good Will. You just never know what kind of good stuff people will throw out!
Since reading and books are my passion, I go to that section first.
Well low and behold I find an interesting book that looks brand spanking new but with a strange title for today's world:
GOOD MANNERS AND RIGHT CONDUCT! (it is a book for teachers to use on children in the classroom, so they can take the message of conduct, ect HOME to their parents!)
Well I open it to the title page and find it was copyrighted 1918 & 1919!! I was AMAZED.
I read the book while still on vacation and laughed out loud many times.
Just for Yellow Mama, I am going to use excerpts from this book to blog. I just know everyone will find it entertaining and depressing, my brats are cavewoman according to this book and I'm not much better!
More to follow tomorrow Y.M I promise!

You know it's hot in Georgia when....

You KNOW it's hot in Ga. when the kudzu is dieing in JUNE! Hot and dry, dry, dry!
I love kudzu. it is beautiful. Of course my husband thinks I'm crazy, but so what?
Kudzu is a lovely toparary, I know I spelled that wrong, how about a nice leafy covering of all it comes in contact with. an abandoned car, a phone pole, a hill of Georgia clay. It all becomes a loverly kudzu covered piece of art work.
So needless to say it breaks my heart to see the heat and draught kill my beautiful kudzu. It looks so sad, all droopy and brown this time of year. It should be working on putting forth it's most beautiful and plentiful purple flowers that I think smells like grape bubblegum but my uncooth husband says smells like the urinal cakes they put in men's restrooms. I'll just have to take his word on that one.
It is so unnatural to see kudzu dieing this time of year...........I thing I will go water the state of GA. wait we have a water ban.
CRAP.
come back little kudzu

Natalie collins is great too, a little pregnant is hularious, pith, marrow & coffe spoons makes me laugh & she too can spell.

I need a writing class

UNEMPLOYMENT--IS IT WORTH IT?

GOOD GRIEF!
has anyone had to go to the unemployment office recently?
I hope no one out there has to actually feed/support a family on this. I know they aren't supposed to make it easy for you to lay around drawing a ck. But good grief! A friend who went with me, had worked for 35 yrs same place, full time, ect ect. only got 21 weeks! and barely enough for gass money. I don't understand our governmnet sometimes.
I thought I'd like staying at home for a while. But after only 4 days I don't what to do with myself. When I worked the laundry got done everynight, dishes, ect. But now? Where does the day go? Maybe I'm not cut out to be a house wife, or maybe it'll get better.
any recommendations?

MAY 2, 2006

I just love the title of this blog. It sums up the basic things I need in life.
hmmm, there are a few more, but there's no room in the title thingie.
I need:
*a relationship with God
*my husband
*my kids to be good and do what I tell them to do. Mommy stills knows best, even when your 24,20&17.
*my blakieblakie boy
*I need to live in the mountains & just not any old mountain either. I still need to convince my husband I'm going to die if I don't.
*to drop 20 pounds
*need to go back to school, but I'm too lazy
I NEED TO FIND ANOTHER GOOD JOB, LIKE THE ONE I JUST LOST, due to NO fault of my own. The **I worked for decided to retire :(
Off we go to the unemployment office. I bet this is going to be so much fun!
I'll tell you all about it later..........
