Merry Christmas *DFCs* Style

Only dfcs* could make Christmas so merry.
We received a letter in the mail today. Extraordinarily timed with the fact that they are closed on Fridays. So of course they can put off the inevitable questions for just a few more days.
It seems our county is broke. In essence, it says you will only be paid per diam and 100.00 FOR THE YEAR for clothing. No diapers, wipes, clothing, shoes, socks, coats, no mileage for transport all over creation for dr appts, visitation, therapies, court or hearings or meetings. No car seats. Oh, and get this, we used to be able to spend 25.00 whole dollars on Birthday presents/party for them. Now, no more.So please pay for all these items out of the per diam sent to you months after it should have been sent to you. ( I added that part)But it's true.
Because we only take babies & toddlers. I don't have to tell you how many diapers and wipes they go thru monthly or how fast they grow. 100.00 is nothing when you bring home a baby that outgrows everything in days or weeks. FORMULA & Food. Don't get me started. Yes, 10.00 a day will cover all that. Don't worry I'm sure we want have even more fosterparents dropping out. Since this is a money making transaction, It will only cut into my profit margin a little. (that's a joke people) Now it will only cost me 300.00 a month to be a fostrparent.
I can see their new recruiting drive will bring people in droves.
This is never ending....
Merry Christmas to you too dfcs* and thanks for those wonderful dollar store* gifts for the kiddos this year. They'll be loved and broken all in 30 minutes.
No, I'm not angry at all. Why do you ask?

For all things holy!!! How can they DO that?? Maybe if our politicians were making a bit less, we could afford to pay our foster parents to PROPERLY take care of the children!!!! Nothing says 'foster child' MORE than NO HAIR CUTS {had to throw that in}, horrible hand-me-downs and clothes that are too short!!!

What state are you in?

That totally stinks!!!! Our humble state has laid off many workers but has not cut benefits for the kids - THANK GOODNESS

You have got to FREAKING be kidding me. $100. For the YEAR! Are you thinking about walking away from the whole mess?

Wow! We get a per diem and $100 a year and that's it already.

Our per diem is lowering Jan 1. What is your per diem? Ours is $25 and is dropping to $22.50. That is high compared to some other blogs I've read.

I use WIC when I have those ages that qualify. That is a must for formula.

I love how they can traipse(sp) all over town to force parents to visit their kids yet, cut our per diem so that we can provide the bare necessities. "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" should be a dcs motto.

so sorry to hear - I have a feeling many states will soon see a change - my county went from 34 social workers this year to 17 this Fall and down to 3 last Friday. No word on cutting board rates ( I'm at $17 a day), but impossible to find out anything about the childrens cases with no one assigned to them. Our state pays no differential for babies or toddlers that need diapers etc - bless you for providing. We do get a clothing allowance but I would have to beg for it, justify it...blah blah and CHOOSE not to bother. ( also, if another foster family did get the allowance then the next would not as it had been used) I so laugh when I read everyones blogs and from time to time one of us foster parents gets accused of "making money". Bless you all foster sisters- respectfully in it for as long as my own don't suffer but I now understand the burnout so many speak of.
